939 to AM2 upgrade

I am thinkingof doing a small upgrade of mobo and cpu on my computer. Right now I have an x2 4400, if I go with a new mother board can I use my ram that is DDR400 on a new board that wants DDR2 800? I have 2GB og DDR 400 and would like to later upgrade to 4GB of DDr2 800 once I install Vista 64.

DDR and DDR2 have different slots. They are not interchangable.

Sorry, but AM2 can only use DDR2.

However, on the bright side, DDR2 memory is very inexpensive these days. You can get 4 gigs for about 70 bucks at any of the better stores these days.
