access denied to my docs after hd crash, how to get past?

i know this same thing has been asked before, but i can't find a thread discussing it after searching.

HD crashed somehow, can't boot from windows, but need files from docu and settings/myusername, but of course access denied when accessing it from another computer. is there a fix for this? i can't remember when i read the thread about it. if only it could ask me for authentication i could do it. any ideas?

The fix is to simply take ownership of the files and folders.

yea, sorry should have posted the fix.like SJ said, just took ownership of them:

and you have to have simple file sharing off or you won't get the security tab for folder properties.
