System Specs: XP Home, XP 2600, 1 GB PC2100 RAM, 80GB 5400RPM drive (currently the boot drive), adding 2nd 40GB 7200RPM drive.

Right now the OS is installed on the 5400RPM drive but I'm wondering the best way to configure the system for fastest performance.

Should I keep the OS on the 5400 drive and add the pagefile on the 2nd 7200RPM drive?

Or should I image the OS over to the 7200RPM drive and use the 5400 for the pagefile. I do have alot of RAM now so the pagefile may not matter that much.

Or some other variation (don't have raid controller) maybe software raid?? I guess I could do a software raid but can you do that without reinstalling the OS from scratch?

Thanks.

Just read a pdf from seagate. Showed putting the OS on a 7200 vs a 5400 gave from 20-40% disk access and application opening time improvement.

That's what I'll do.

Put everything on the 7200 for now, use the other for overflow. Then purchase a raptor and put your OS on that! :D
