currently I have been using a Klipsch promedia 2.1 setup but they are a little small for my projector screen. I am thinking about going with the following for a 5.1 setup. The computer is the 6700k computer in my sig. I guess I will likely use the HDMI output on my GPU to output sound although I may use the digital out on my mobo. Not sure of the pros/cons. I only binge game a couple of times a year so gaming isnt the priority, movie watching is.

The room the projector is in is pretty big. I am guessing at least 750ft2. The screen is 100in.

I am strongly considering the following:
The receiver is a Denon S900W. I really like that it has 2 HDMI outputs so I can have my monitor hooked up to it as well as my projector. Also the price for this is pretty awesome (under $400). I don't care much that it is not HDCP 2.2 compliant because all of my media is on my computer anyway and It will be 5+ years before I upgrade to a 4k projector.

Front speakers: http://www.klipsch.com/kb-15-bookshelf-speakers-pair - I can get these for free so it would be hard to convince me to go another direction.

I would like to get floor standing speakers but having dropped $1600 just the other week.... I can get floor speaker later on down the road.

Tips? advice? pros/cons of going this route?

If possible I'd audition the speakers at a local store first and see if you like the sound. Your room is pretty large and I don't think that sub will cut it, I'd either recommend multiple subs or a 15" to 18". I'm not a huge bass head but for movies it's nice to have the extended low end range and air movement from a larger woofer.

I ended up getting a klipsch sub-12. The AVR has 2 pre outs so if I need another...

Very good, did you get the other speakers you had posted about? How's the system?

I am getting the sub on Tuesday and the rest should arrive on Thursday. I was strongly considering getting the logitech Z906, but considering how big the room is, and although my current Klipsch Promedia 2.1's are good, it wasn't going to be very much of a difference in sound.

I know the Icon speakers are entry level but they will be leaps and bounds better than the tiny satellite speakers I have and was considering.

I really want to get front tower speakers but that is going to be a number of years later down the road.

just wanted to update that the upgrade was awesome. I knew that it would make a difference going from the little satellite speakers of the Promedia to the larger bookshelf speakers but I didn't know it would make that much of a difference. When I watch a movie on the projector it really is like being in a movie theater now.
