I'm not looking for anything extreme- or expensive :)

Case is an Antec P180 and I'm not looking for much more than 3.0 ghz.

Other than that what's typically safe with the retail cooler?

You need a better performing cooler than stock or average cooler to get to 3.0 on a quad.

I would suggest a thermalright 120 extreme. If you can't afford one now, save up... or stay stock speeds.

The Thermaltake V1 will cool your quad at 3Ghz no problems. It's $60, but you can get them on sale sometimes. It has a great design that will clear pretty much any NB cooler and RAM with large heatsinks. Plus it looks trick. :D

I use a tuniq tower with the stock fan. My Q6600 G0 is @ generally 61C full load in the hottest portion of the day. Idle is low to mid 30s..

*edit* The clocks is at 3.0 GHZ. I think the full load temps @ 2.4 were low 50s. Oh yea forgot to also mention that my air flow isn't the greatest either. I need a better case.
