Saw a thread here earlier titled "Anyone worried for AMD?". It's worth noting AMD is making the GPUs for the next generation XBOX 720 ODAN, PlayStation 4 ORBIS SoC, and next-gen Nintendo Wii U GPU. Nvidia is nowhere to be seen since AMD has all the exclusive contracts. (Crazy because Kepler is now extremely competitive with GCN)

Considering AMD will be making 90% of the gaming GPUs in the world, I doubt they are concerned so much with the final 10% coming from the PC gaming market. If they lose 3 to 1 in PC gaming market, they still control 92% or more of total gaming GPUs worldwide.

Food for thought.

People always post threads of doom and gloom about AMD.
Search back in the forums and you will see threads about people "worrying" about AMD all the way back to the 1900XT.
Most of those threads are used to play on peoples emotions.

Will this generally benefit AMD on the PC GPU side too? Considering all multiplatform games will then be made with AMD's GPU's in mind, I mean. Or will the DirectX vs console API thing ruin that advantage?

There was another thread/article about doom and gloom for NV a few weeks back after their investor conference call. Something about their competition taking all the good contracts (AMD with consoles) and so much competition with ARM and Tegra. Everyone has an opinion.

People doom and gloomed about Nvidia as well when Fermi was out. There was even people commenting on the irony if they went the way of 3dfx.

Even in the PC consumer graphics side with AMD they are fine. Hardware forums tend to be infatuated with the high end halo products but in reality this is a rather low volume segment for both companies. We need to see how Nvidia's lower range will stack up against Pitcairn.

ppl need to feel better about their worthless lives and sometimes do so by irrationally pimping products they own and dragging through the mud products they 'smartly' opted against. Drivers, 'worrying' about AMD fortunes is how they do with AMD.
