Heya peeps.

I'm trying to find a new motherboard without much success atm.
The requirements are that is needs 4 SATA connectors, and preferably onboard PATA RAID as well.
HSF mounting holes are required as I want to move to watercooling.
Onboard Gigabit LAN would be a big plus too.

I'm currently running an Athlon 2400+, but would consider moving to an Athlon64 if the mobo is going to set me back a bit (no point in an expensive upgrade if I have to turn around and do it again soon - doesn't worry me so much if it's fairly reasonable cost).

My mobo atm is a Gigabyte GA-7N400 Pro
Other components are:
9600Pro
2x SATA 120gb
2x PATA 120gb
2x PATA 200gb
Samsung Combo drive

And no, the drives aren't full of porn! in fact there is none on them at all :p
Any suggestions are appreciated

Soyo KT880 Dragon 2

Only one I know of in Socket A that has 4 each of IDE & SATA. There's also the version 2 of the board which seems to only have a different audio codec on board. /shrug

Can't say anything positive about it, however - the one I got was about as stable as a meth addict going through withdrawal. The 12v under load would drop down to 10v and stay there. It wasn't the power supply as that holds 12v stable on the Abit NF-7S v2.0 that I replaced it with. RMA'ing to Soyo is a PITA, too. YMMV of course.

Looks good as far as the layout and features goes (layout is much better than my 7N400Pro) but if you say it's unstable I will take your word for it. I haven't had any experience with Soyo boards myself. They don't seem to be all that popular in NZ (maybe you pointed out the reason for that).

Anyone else got any suggestions? Perhaps I will have to go with an Athlon64? Or am I just plain asking too much?
Am I going to have a lot more choice if I go for something that has either 4 IDE and 2 SATA or vice-versa? I guess I can always throw a few of these IDE drives into the server and access them from there.
