AMD Moves Up Release Date For K8L !!!

This is 2.7-2.9 for the quad core right? Dual core should be higher than that...especially if it wants to compete with 45nm Core 2. Ghesher (I think) will be out a little after that too.

I consider "moving up" to bring in closer, but it appears that it was pushed back, since I recall 1H07 numbers being thrown around a while ago.

All I really care about is if this will drop into a current AM2 socket . . . :)

1h07 was for dual cores, this is talking about quad cores. Kentsfield's going to have been out a very very long time by 3q07 though.

AM2+ will natively support K8L and HT3.0, but K8L will still work on AM2 but have "limited" bandwith. I'll see how big of a difference between the versions of HyperTransports make before making the jump to a new mobo. I would not mind just dropping a Quad-Core into my current setup and putting my 4800+ in a second PC.

Any chance at all of a suprise quad on 939? *hopes*

Unfortunetly, because the chip will likely have DDR2 controllers on them, I find it highly unlikely we will get a K8L on a 939. :(

hope all you want, but from what i understand s939 is going out the door, even though i love my 4200 x2, i really dont think there will be expansion into quad core *sigh*
