I have a AMD64 3000+ (754) & Asus K8N MB.. I currently have 2x512 of corsair value ram.
What would be the drawback of mixing 2x512 & 1GIG stick together? Would it be better to just add another 512MB for 1.5GIG? The 1GIG is also a corsair value select.

If I do add the 1GIG stick, which slot should I put it in? First, last or middle?

Thanks for the help.

running three double sided sticks of ram will make the board drop the ram speed to 166mhz and go to 2T, further dropping ram performance about another 10%

i say stay with the 2x512mb you have. if you need more, plunge and buy 2x1gb sticks

In most cases, with Socket 754 boards, running more than three "sides" of RAM will result in having to knock down your memory speed to PC2700. Thus, using two double sided modules will do this.

(Edit: Incorrect information removed)

Two double sided sticks of 512mb will force PC2700? That doesn't sound right to me.

no, it's the third stick that does that. ;)
unabomber seems to be.. slightly misinformed
