American Conquest won't play

I get an error immediately after installation. When I click on the shortcut I get a black screen. Then I Ctrl-Alt-Del and I see dmcr.exe is running at 50% CPU and nothing is happening. I googled and found some solutions but none worked. WinXP SP2 and rest of the specs below. I also downloaded 1.45 patch and when I run it it says American Conquest is not installed. I reinstalled and same issues.
