Hello, Im using a Compaq M2000 but its just to damn slow (Turion ML-37 2Ghz), so I want to build a Q6600 System. By budget is around $800 but the cheaper the better, Im located in Canada so im limited to places to buy from. These are the parts I have found.

Logitech G5 Laser Gaming Mouse = $45.71
Logitech G15 Gaming Keyboard = $68.64
Noctua NH-U12P = $54.99
G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 2X2GB DDR2-800 = $91.80
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 = $208.88
Arctic Silver 5 = $8.97
Corsair CMPSU-450VX = $70.36
Coolermaster CAC-T05 Centurion 5 = $49.68
Western Digital SE16 320GB = $66.96
Gigabyte GA-EP35-DS3L = $90.25

I already have Vista64 Ultimate. And I want overclocking that Q6600 as high as I can. I didn't Include a Video card or LCD because I will get those later, The video card I picked is a Powercoler 4850 and the LCD is a BenQ G2400. Can you please help me out and revise my build, the purchase will happen around July 16th so I have a while till then.

Thanks

EDIT: Sorry I forgot to say that I want to do some gameing on it, When im not gameing i will do photoshop, dreamweaver, msn, surfing [H], vmware, and other things.
2ND EDIT: Since ram is sorta cheap ill go 8GB later (few months) for a scratch disk or for vmware.

You can drop the AS5. The stock TIM on the Noctua will be good enough. Though if maximum quiet cooling isn't a major goal, you can get the Xigmatek HDT-S1283 for cheaper:

Then again if you wanted a quiet PC, you wouldn't have chose a case with an 80fan :) You might want to check out the RC-330 since it uses nothing but 120mm fans:

How will that Xigmatek hold upto a Q6600 at 3.4-3.6ish if i can push that. I though the Centurion 5 has a rear 120, because my friend has a Centurion 5 and it has a 120 rear.
EDIT: Here it has a 120 rear.

The Xigmatek should hold fine at those clock speeds. And yes the Centurion 5 does have a rear 120mm fan but it can only fit an 80mm fan in the front of the case.

It has 1 120mm rear fan and 1 80mm front fan. You can always get a 80 to 120mm fan adaptor if it will fit in the case.

Edit: It sure is taking along time to load pages here.

Ok, when looking at the base it looks a little uneven, would it bee a good idea to just do a little lap on it? For the front ill run a 80mm because it doesn't have to be perfectly quiet but not as loud as my network switch (pos baystack 350t) which is very annoying when trying to watch tv at night.

The HDD cage on the Centurion 5 is fixed, so you really can't use a 80mm to 120mm adapter and still be able to fit any fan in there.

Besides, as Danny mentioned, there are cheaper cases available that can support 120mm fans.

Thanks you found the case ill use.

Glad I could help :)

Just make sure to pick up a couple 120mm fans for the front, As they are optional:

2 front (optional) 120 mm fans to cool the hard drives
1 side (Optional) 120 x 25 mm Fan to cool graphic cards

OK, the Antec 300 is gone the RC-330 is in, I needed to drop the price a bit. Also how is the Mobo for overclocking a Quad to 3.4ish? I had a DFI Lanparty P35 in my list but i had to drop it to lower the price. Also could someone please recommend some cheaper but good parts.

All I can say is that you should be able to get 3.2Ghz with the Q6600 with that mobo. That's the average OC I see with people have the Q6600 and DS3L.

And I think you're at the point where you can't get any cheaper without sacrificing significant quality and performance PC parts wise. You can go cheaper on the keyboard and mouse. I'm using a standard MS Optical mouse and Kensington keyboard quiet happily. I can still beat people with $60+ mouses and keyboards :)

What boards will overclock a quad pretty high and cheaper then $90? For the keyboard and mouse ill look around for others that I like, the g15 and g5 can be upgrades later on.

If you want to OC higher than 3.2Ghz, you're gonna need to spend $90 or more. Also, you're assuming that you can OC high with the Q6600. Some Q6600 can only hit 3.0Ghz while some can hit as high as 3.6Ghz. And some Q6600 can't OC at all. So in other words, YMMV.

Ok I dropped the keyboard and mouse for a cheap Microsoft keyboard and mouse combo, Case for RC-330, the Noctua for HDT-S1283. Once i get this going ill upgrade the case, ATI 4850, g15, g5, and 24 inch LCD but that wont happen till I get enough money, I hate being 15 and having a crappy job.

EDIT: I added everything up and it is $551.76, but is there taxes when you buy online?

Ok, I revised the build. Here are the parts:

First Order:
Cooler Master RC-330 = $39.96
G.SKILL F2-6400CL5D-4GBPQ 2X2GB DDR2-800 = $91.80
Intel Core 2 Quad Q6600 = $208.88
Corsair CMPSU-450VX = $70.36
Xigmatek HDT-S1283 = $31.32
WD 640GB = $84.88
Microsoft Keyboard and Mouse = $15.59
Abit IP35V = $97.20
-----------------------------------------------------
= $640

Second Order (In a few months):
BenQ G2400W = $353.16
Powercolor Radeon 4850 = $192.92
Logitech G5 Mouse = $45.71
Logitech G15 Keyboard = $68.64
-----------------------------------------------------
= $661

Until I get the 2nd order I will use a 19inch crt, Powercolor 9250 128MB PCI, and the keyboard and mouse from the first order

You have AS5 listed twice. Though like I said earlier, you don't need it.

I added a Abit IP35V to post 20, how high do they average clock a Q6600? And are they good?

Don't have any experience with that motherboard. IIRC, that's Abit's value mobo. Meaning that it may not OC well.

Well this wont be bought on the 15th or 16th now, I have a project now, a Yamaha Banshee with a Honda cbr 600 motor, so all my funds are going to that.
