Curious as to how compatible, or rather, incompatible the latest Linux Mint is with a 2011 MBP.

Anyone have any feedback?

And here is a terribly stupid question: how do I even go about doing this -correctly-?

I don't suppose bootcamp works fine with linux, no?

yes, I'm an apple newb. Made the leap of faith a few months ago, still trying to learn. :\

Don't dual boot Linux on a Macbook. You will get poor battery life, and performance is just a good as native when you run it in a VM. Download VirtualBox in Mac OS, install Mint on it and you'll be good to go.

+1

OS X is already a solid, stable UNIX OS anyways, so running a Linux distro won't net you much more performance as it is.

Definitely run it within a VM, almost every distro will run at 100% speed and efficiency.

..not really looking for 'performance'

I'm looking to play :p

been a long while since I've played with linux
