My new radeon 9800 pro won't work on my abit KT7A motherboard. I have found a thread on viaarena forums as well as abit forums with people having similar difficulties. In theory the radeon 9800 should be fine in agp 4x mode using a 1.5 Volt connection, but my board won't even post with the card in it. My old abit BH6 (intel 440bx chipset) with a celeron 300A will boot the card just fine strangely enough. and i have verified that the card works on my brother's newer athlon xp system.
theres a trick some people use to boot, they hit the power button while the external power of the video is not plugged in, then quickly plug it in after the computer is on. i was able to get into windows using that trick but videos and 3d games exhibited some serious artifacts.
