And beyond using it for a little web or fileserver I can't imagine it's got enough horsepower to do anything modern (like be a home theater box).

People still using these for anything other than file/web servers?
 
Like you said it's too slow to be of much use for anything other than an aquarium.
 
It's good for modding and that's about it. I saw a project once in which someone installed a new Mini inside the enclosure of the cube. I would do something similar.

The only reason to keep it as is is if you have some specific programs you want to run in the Classic environment. Most of that stuff will probably be games that have no cocoa equivalent.
 
You should thank that person for giving you a very valuable piece of hardware.

Like 450 said: sell it and buy something else you can get some utility out of. Let someone who really genuinely wants a cube have it.
 
IIRC the Cube G4 is in MoMA. It might appreciate in the future.
 
I've got one on my shelf at the office that I can't bring myself to get rid of.
