Anything wrong with this PSU?

from what I recall, not all PSUs under the fortron name are manufactured by FSP

Yeah, what are you basing your conclusion on snowwie? I can't seem to find anywhere (this forum included) that has something concrete on these either way.

I think I'm going to pick it up for my 24pin LGA775 system I just put together...give it some testing...seems like a great deal.

It's 12v 2.0 compliant...36A combined on the 12V rail...Modular 24 pin connection...SATA and PCI-e connectors...made by FSP (and showcased on their site)...I don't see how I can go wrong. :confused:

EDIT>>>Just clicked the order button.

snowwie...I've heard the same thing which is why I questioned it before I jumped on it...anyway, I guess I'll find out soon enough ;)

don't worry, it'll work, and for 50 dollars, I don't think it is a bad purchase

As far as I know, AX just denotes the SAGA series. Which is their "Value" series. It's "ok", but it doesn't hold a candle to other FSP's.

I'm pretty sure it's ALL Fortron/Source, though: http://www.home2000.net/client/fspgroupusacom/images/AX450-PN_D%20(9PA4002102).pdf ;)

what I'm saying is that FSP manufactures PSUs...and they also sell PSUs

for instance:

http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16817104963

both PSUs are sold under the FSP brand...both are given the same wattage rating, yet they are different. I'm saying that I think that one is manufactured by FSP, a name and PSU manufacturer we all know and trust, and the other is not.

I see what your saying...thanks for the input. :)

The system it's going in:

Intel P4 630 (3.0GHz, 2MB L2) EM64T CPU SKT775
Asus P5GL-MX PCI-e
1GB (2x512) Corsair VS in Dual Channel
Hitachi 80GB SATA HDD
16X DL DVD+RW
Onboard video for now (actually the reason I built it is to test PCI-e video cards...so I may leave it at onboard video so I don't hve to keep pulling a card in and out of it.).

Right now it has a 20pin 350w Super Flower PSU (22A on the 12V rail) plugged into 20 of the mobo's 24 pins and it runs it great...no issues. This FSP PSU has all the features I need for the tech. in the box at a reasonable price, so I picked it up. I will share my findings on it once it arrives :)

Max combined is +12V@29A:

From what I could tell, I got +12V@31A (15.5+15.5)?

David is correct - this is a 400w PSU with a 348W limit on the combined 12v output. Essentially a redesigned Blue Storm FSP400-60THN. The corresponding Sparkle part number is ATX400-PN IIRC... Fortron does indeed make these.

Not sure how these will handle Prescott overclocking - methinks it will be somewhat limited, but the only way to find out is to try it.

Main Rig Specs.
AMD s754 Athlon64 3000+ || MSI K8T NEO-FSR || 1GB Corsair PC3200
eVGA 128MB Geforce 6800 16vp,6x1 380/830 || CLSB Audigy || Onboard nVidia 10/100 nic
Western Digital 800JB 80GB || Maxtor Ultra Series 160GB || Samsung 160GB
Pioneer DVD-120 || NEC 16X DL-DVD-RW || 3.5" Floppy
Chenbro Xpider Case w/Antec True 430watt PSU (http://www.diablo111.com/case.htm)
Logitech Z-640 5.1 || CTX S762G DVI 17" LCD || Windows XP Pro.
It is a very good PSU, I recommend these in "Cheap, but Good PSU's" & it will be fine for your system.

But I do agree it is NOT for a power-hungry Prescott OC. ;)

Isn't it just a slightly cut-down version of the AX-500A?

Well, an AX-500A is a SAGA too.

I think they just use cheaper components than the FSP series. Still way superior to Powmax, Deer, ATNG, etc.

Finally came today (was hoping to have it over the weekend)...First impressions:

It feels a bit lite for a quality 450w PSU (as compared to my Antec Tru430), but I think it's been established that this is a budget line PSU. Plenty of connectors (only one mini molex...so if you have a floppy and an old 9500/9700 pro you'll need an adapter). Nice big 12cm fan for cooling.

Will post some more info later.

Well...I don't have an voltometer or anything to test it, but it works fine...no problems. left it running 3dmark2k1 for a few hours. It's really helping the airflow in my mATX case too.

I like it...we'll see how it holds up. Wish I had a decent PCI-e video card to throw in...give it some load to chew on.
