Assassins Creed 3: American Revolution

How did you run into those bugs? The PC release included that patch at launch.

PS: I'm in sequence 7 and have not encountered any bugs that affected gameplay, just annoying glitches here or there like NPCs getting stuck.

I was finally able to proceed by shooting the guys on the roof. But you have stand in a specific area just to be able to shoot. I'm like what the fuck why can't I shoot, I kept mashing keys, and walking around, and then I noticed the gun icon was highlighted when I stepped in a certain spot.

This tutorial is a piece of shit, poorly designed, not thought out well.

Bizarre. I'm not trying to downplay your problems but I'm trying to figure out why you're having that nightmare and a lot of the rest of us aren't.

Have you done a search and seen any other folks with those same problems?

Yes these two problems I've had, on all platforms, other people had these issues, and was supposed to be fixed with a patch. Like the powder keg thing was all jacked up.

The tutorial is so unforgiving, if you don't do exactly what it says, it won't work. Like why do I have to shoot from a specific spot? Why can't I jump up on the roof and kill them that way?

God damn, look at this shit. Game breaking bugs out the ass. The patch should be coming soon, but what the fuck is this man.
*Snip*

Haha, that's too bad. I avoid Ubisoft for things just like this. I can't remember the last time I purchased a Ubisoft game. It was years ago, I think it may have been Chaos Theory. Though I may have bought that used.

I think the dude drank too much egg nog last night...people having issues need to examine their own rig

Are you talking to me? if so, then what the hell does my own rig have to do with running into bugs?

Bugs = software

Crashes = hardware

I was running into BUGS not crashes.

If you're using Red, make a custom profile and disable crossfire. You'll see about a 25-50% performance boost. Kind of annoying since it defeats the purpose of running crossfire, maybe a CAP release will fix this.

the specific 'bugs' you mentioned should affect more people then...many people (including myself) have not experiened them...for me personally the game has been problem free...Ubisoft has released 2 patches so far (a day 1 patch and another released on Thanksgiving)...so it seems they are trying hard to work out any issues people may be experiencing

Wait a minute here. They released the patch yesterday? When exactly, because thats when I played, last night around 7pm.

And how in world do I know if I got the patch installed? Uplay doesn't give you any info, and neither does steam. I look under game properties, and I have the automatic updates checked. But how do I know I got the patch?

Bit late maybe, but I just got my GMG Deluxe version installed and, as advertised, it contains all the DLC+season pass once you use your serial code in-game too (why?!)

Game gets problematic on the frontier and if you're on sli or something like dual gpu card you'll have really annoying flickering snow textures, drivers currently don't fix it

I think the patch released on Thanksgiving was for consoles only...we already got that huge patch with the PC version...I did notice Steam updating AC3 yesterday but not sure what exactly it updated

are you really saying that a crash can't be caused because of software?

Ahhh come on, you know what I mean. Sure software like drivers for instance can cause crashes. I'm talking about gameplay bugs that where not fixed.

Half of those guys I jumped on the roof and killed. I don't know why you couldn't but based on my experiance and everyone elses, this part is not bugged. It has to be something on your end. Are you using a controller or kb/mouse to play? I am having zero issues with a 360 controller.

I also can understand the game requiring you to be close to shoot muskets. They weren't exactly known for their accuracy from a distance. ;)

The tutorials do suck though. It took me forever to figure out what buttons to press just to shoot. Anyone know how to check their email in the game? Haven't figured that one out yet.

Really? Because when I killed those guys by jumping on the roof. When I returned to the two guys that escort you, they just stayed there and the mission would not complete. I tried this several times. As soon as I shot them, then it worked and mission was completed.

I didn't know people were using a 360 controller? Is it better with that? I'm just using keyboard/mouse.

I just played through the chest mission in sequence 2 without any problems, and I killed the last two guys by going after them on the roof because seriosly, the reload time...

In fact, there's some sort of in-game goal to push five of them off roof-tops.

I have to say, of all the games I've played I love the world design in this game the most. EVerything just looks so natural compared to most games these days.

Perhaps it's because tehre aren't really many games set in that era, or even rural area's, but teh world design just seems so well done compared to other games.

I finally got to do some ship stuff and man, Ubisoft would have to be a fool to not spin off that ship tech they built for this and make it into a full fledged title of it's own, it's just so fun/well done. They could expand on the rpg mechanics of building your ship, upgrading it. Allow you to captain many different ships that you can find/buy on your own.

Basically make us a new Sea dogs style with actual good on-land parts and more choices/options.

The AC series and most console ports like this, Batman: AA & AC, Tomb Raider titles, GTA, etc are all easier with the wired 360 controller (The wireless ones work too but I have no experiance using them on PC).

I did fail to get full synchronization on that mission because I only killed 8/10 with firearms. It sounds like you are having some wierd bug no one else is having. What version are you playing? I'm playing the Standard version from Steam.

Okay, bought the Digital Deluxe version... but no soundtrack or George Washington's journal extras, nor did I get a key for the Benedict Arnold missions.... Anyone else buy from Gamefly having these problems?

SLI profile for this game is boned, you get some savage flickering and artifacting in the frontier area's in the snow.

I'm having a hard time catching those almanac pages...every time I get close it flies in the air and then gets lost if I take my eye off it for a second...I think I'm going to approach them from a rooftop next time

Same here. Got to try and hit them from on high.

game runs horribly on my system and it started once I got out of Boston. In game benchmark yields an average of 29 fps so I guess my i7 3770 and gtx 590 with 16gb ram is equivalent to an xbox or ps3 as far as ubisoft is concerned only those consoles don't get flickering textures and fps dumps.

I'm smarter than this, fucking ubisoft, last time.

Are you on the newest beta drivers? 310.61, theree's a big increase for AC3 in performance there mentioned.

I'm on a 2600k/580 and I pull high 50's/60's in boston.

finally got to sequence 7 when you get access to your dlc outfits/weapons, got the colonial assassin and awesome warclub.

Really starting to think this is my GOTY.

I'm just amazed at how badly this game embarrasses The Witcher 2. Revamped engine, mind blowingly awesome pathing, combat, animations, scenery and that standard roam whore grind that we all love and cherish. Every single thing in this game is just high fidelity, high quality, yet, challenging enough that it has the credentials to make even the the seasoned players loose some composure :p

This game is bugged as hell. I got stuck trying to shoot the powder kegs. I could not equip my gun. No matter what I did. Then I mashed a bunch of keys at the same time, and somehow it finally shot the powder kegs.

lul. Basically, same thing happened to me(i thought i was the only one) I was at the gate, and i must of missed the split second tutorial on wtf to do , and i was just running around picking up weapons, but it wouldn't even fire at the barrels, and i was trying relentlessly, until 3 minutes later, i did some random button mashing, and then the gun goes off and the barrels explode.

That's the only thing i ever had problem with throughout the whole game tho.

This tutorial/training thing is pissing me off.
I sort of semi-agree with you here. AC2 all the way through AC:R, all had pretty decent and straightforward tutorials, AC3's is fine, it's just basically in a not giving a fuck manner. Basically, I already knew most of what to do on my own since I've been playing since the first game, but there were a couple things where the game basically does give you the middle finger and forces you to fiend for your own :D My first 4 hours, i was not comfortable at all with using the gun. I always felt confined, suffocated, and slow. Now that I'm building up that game-time and getting that AC mojo back when you're playing with Connor's Assassin outfit, everything is falling back to place, and I'm enjoying the game more than ever.

You guys are such wimps. I miserably failed getting the almanac numerous times. i tried the Spiderman-Knee-Jerk strategy, I tried every single wall-whore trick in the book, i tried every single leap calculation known to man....Out of the 9000 or so attempts, i managed to get 3-4, but you want to know what's the kicker guys? Out of all those attempts failed, each and every one of those fails has been a defining moment for me. I don't know about you guys, but i play games for the immersion, fun, challenge and satisfaction.

If all you're thinking about is how you missed this, how you didn't get that, blah blah, then your mind will be running in circles, and in no time, the game will have been over already. Positive and fun mindset guys, remember that ;)

what are you talking about?...who said anything about not being immersed or satisified?...if anything I'm more immersed as I want to do every little side quest, collect every little trinket etc...in fact I've replayed several sections in the Animus just to get the 100% synch...so yes I would say I'm enjoying the game very much...either way different people take satisfaction from games in different ways so your criteria may not apply to everyone...enjoy it whatever way you wish

the tutorial in AC3 is much longer then in any of the previous games and I wish it was a bit shorter...plus they don't even teach you how to do everything...one early tutorial mission involved killing some General as part of the 'Optional' task...but the map didn't do a good job of showing me where the general was located...I also had to learn a lot of the moves on my own (corner assassination etc)...you would think with such a lengthy tutorial that they would at least tell you everything

Alright. it's fine and cool with me. that's all i wanted to hear. Your post just seem to have came off as a little serious, so I had just assumed you weren't playing the game as it was intended, so i decide to give a little nudge. That's all that we're trying to do here, to just have a relaxing, chilled, carefree, fun and top-notch gaming experience.

Of course...... if you don't factor in the cock-blocking immense blinding white light every 3 minutes or so to hamper or distract with you somehow, don't mention the awesome e-mails and random jibberish/spam pop-ups that you can't even open in the main menu.
Let's also not forget about the new sherlock map system. Who would've known where the fuck my eyesight went.

..Of course, once you have neither of that, the game becomes easier to understand to any 6th grader with down-sydrome ;)

Some tweaks, here and there would've done unimaginable justice to this game IMHO.

Yeah, i got that stuff registered, but no soundtrack, no George Washington journal, no key for Benedict Arnold DLC (and the directions provided by Gamefly are SHITE wrong)....

wow, it's the little things that really make this game special...when you're walking in the snow the crunching sound of the snow on the ground...when you have to trek through deep snow, the snow really piles up to your waist and it's hard to move...the deep snow creating large dunes when you walk through them...Wow

love the tons of wildlife scattered all around...very realistic setting...the time period has always been one of the strong points in the AC series but I think they might have outdone themselves this time

one thing which is kinda weak is the lock picking mechanic

I'm having fun with it, but I'm not really digging the side goals in this one. Too much stealth, not enough just wiping out all of the potential witnesses :) Although if you screw up any part of a side mission, you can exit and start over at the last section you reached. At least that makes it a bit less painless.

I'm still convinced performance can be salvaged. Per Afterburner, I'm never dropping lower than 49 fps, but the random DX11 effects like smoke, mist, & snow seem to bog down the camera and make everything spike rapidly. Seems like a driver or game patch could fix that. The first versions of Arkham City and Dragon Age 2 shipped with the same issues and were eventually fixed.

I was really impressed when I hit the deep snow yesterday and saw I was creating paths. The *crunch, crunch, crunch* while walking is also spot on. Immediately reminded me of when I lived in New York.

Same here. Once you get into the famous battles it gets even more engrossing IMO. Plus there is so much to do (side missions etc) that it's almost overwhelming. :D

So, I never played the AC immediately before this one (Revelations?)... am I going to be seriously lost if I play this? I've played the rest of them, I just got sick of Ezio.
