Looks really awesome, based on looks alone. Crooked-wayz heatsinks are cool lookin.

release date?...I thought it would have been out by now to match up with the i7 980X...looks like they finally spaced out the PCI_E ports properly

I like how the heatsink red is different than the rest of the board red.

We had a longish thread about this board here a while back, but for some reason it appears to have been moved/deleted or something. This was the link for it. You can pull the thread up on a cached Google page, but thats all.

Here's a video of an ASUS rep talking about the board. (Well worth a watch)

It's due out this month (March), but no exact date has been given that I've seen.

Pricing is expected in the $350-400 range.

Some sites have already been messing with the board in various states, like here...

Most importantly, the BIOS despite being still in beta is already very strong; both in performance and features. The numbers we have seen thus far in our benching show an excellent X58 motherboard on par with the rest. The R3E can also clearly handle the new six core Gulftown processor from Intel as well. Under phase and LN2 it responded exactly as we wished, despite a less than ideal PSU setup. We'll shut this preview down for now, but keep your eyes peeled on the pages of Hardware Canucks.com for updates on when this promising board will be going retail.

It's yet to be confirmed anywhere I've seen that it uses the NF200 for true 4 x 16X on the slots, but I'm thinking on a high end board like this it must.

I'm planning to snag one for my rebuild of a new machine to replace my currently dead desktop PC so I can stop using this laptop full time.

I figure it should last me quite a long time, which is a good thing.

This should go nicely with my i7-980x. Any suggestions on an 8+ slot case?

Probably the main reason I'm still holding on to my Raven RV02 with 8 slots.
I know the newer Lian Li's now have 8 slots but they're mid-towers.
Hoping I can use slots 1 and 3 @ 16x. I need the space in between the cards.

Does anyone have a clue when this is coming out? I heard March, but it's almost the end of March!

Last I heard some site's were expecting an announcement from ASUS "soon" about this board. My guess is it will be next week sometime, just before the end of the month.

As bad as I want one, I want to see some hard data on specs and some reviews before I drop that much money on it.

Well, it's looking like ASUS might have removed the NF200 from the final board they are shipping based on some of the comments in this thread.....

There's also some info pictures on page 2 of the thread, this one in particular caught my eye since I recall seeing somewhere that this thing would be 4 x X16 at all times....tons of other good pictures on page 2 as well.

Also looking like the release got pushed into April now with a $389 price tag.

Here's the page where some of those pics came from that has even more....

Ok one more pic from there that shows off a feature I think all new boards should have....

All these super high end boards should come with the option of either air or water cooling. I hate how I would have to pay the extra money for this bling and then have to rip it off to get away from that fucking 40mm fan on the NB.

too bad the heatsink were designed more for looks than performance. who the hell makes fins that thick?? and the SB isn't even considered fins. imo, the original rampage extreme had better cooling sinks and cosmetically looked better too. this board definitely wins in features though

was thinking the same thing. I wonder if S3 sleep work on the board. I am so tired of my classified issues that I am just about to buy an asus or gigabite, damn i miss my abit boards.
