Asus Xonar DX vs. Creative SB X-Fi XtremeGamer

Which should I get out of those two. The Creative I can obtain for $38.88 off eBay refurb. The Xonar I can get for $45 used. What do you guys think? I mainly game and listen to music. Not much movies. I have Logitech Z Cinema speakers and Sony MDR-V6 headphones.

What mobo do you have? It might be wise to do a google search and see if either of those choices have issues with your mobo. Sound quality should be good with either one.

Of these, the DX. Make sure you connect the supplemental power (uses a 4-pin "floppy drive" connector).

Aside from S/N and DAC concerns, the V6 can use a tad more juice than is standard for computer audio & portable sources. The DX should do a better job in both areas.

There is no competition, the Xonar DX is superiou to the creative. Not only for the sound quality, but for dolby headphones.
