DigiTimes, citing sources close to the company, claims that Asustek is planning to move its production lines from China to Vietnam.

The Vietnam government has promised to provide several benefits and tax reductions which have persuaded Asustek to relocate Pegatron Technology, one of the planned subsidiaries that will result from Asustek's spin-off in January 2008, to Vietnam where it will focus on the production of PC related products and components, noted the sources.

So now China knows how it feels to loose businesses to countries with cheaper labor and taxes.Welcome to capitalism.:D

As my motherland (though born in the US), I'm glad to see Vietnam succeed. I'm mad I didn't invest something/anything when it was more backwater than it is now. I should have right after the 1997 financial crisis. Dammit! :p

And their tech supports sucks now, just imagine.

It makes me a little better on the inside to know that the US government isn't alone in undermining the free market by indulging in corporate favoritism. ;)
