I want to get audio in two rooms: (1) The desk in one room (where the desktop is) and (2) to the 32" HDTV in the living room.

I will have to use a DVI-I HDMI converter dongle and an audio loop cable with the ATI 4870 to the living room (32").

The 32" TV has HDMI and audio out, so that is easy.

But the 21" Monitor I'm looking at does not have audio out.

Can I run a 3.5mm cable from my desk speakers to the integrated audio chip (for the 21" monitor) and run HDMI to my 32" tv?

I don't want to switch back and forth in the bios or windows or anything like that.

Are you trying to get audio in both rooms at the same time?

I do something similar. I also use the HDMI out of my ATI card to my receiver/surround sound processor. Then for music, I use a USB jack to my external DAC. As long as you're using separate programs for each output, using both, possibly simultaneously, may work just fine.

How do you want to access this audio from each room? I think you'll looking for a professional solution. Depending on your budget, there are a number of solutions.

Also, what type of audio do you need in each room? 2 ch, 5.1, 7.1?
