Hi,
I did a search and read a about five articles on this subject and I believe I understand most of it.

My question, which I did not find an answer to, is this.
I'm using the ICH7R(D975BX2 motherboard) and ICH9R(Rampage Formula motherboard) for RAID1(two 500gb HD) and from what I read, Basic would be prefer over Dynamic.
Could someone please help confirm this?

There doesn't seem to be much benefits to using Dynamic. I can go from Basic to Dynamic, but not the other way around.

Sounds like the only advantage to Dynamic is the ability to do JBOD. Is that all?

Thanks!

While Dynamic does allow you to add space, etc, it comes with a performance hit. It happens to be if you create a dynamic volume, the write size is limited to 64k because of a software limitation. Because of this, with large writes, it can cause a lot of disk cuing which degrades performance badly. So that being said, stick with basic unless it is just some slow storage that needs expanded every once in a while.
