Look at teatime's speed:

About 8 minutes or so to download the entire game.

I was maxing my connection out around 10-12MB/s (100Mbps). I don't even come close to half that with Steam. More like 5MB/s during offpeak.

These types of games for me are more "marathons" than "sprints" so I never really feel like going out of the way just to get in a lot of game time early on. MP games tend to be a bit "hectic" as well in the early going.

Why does 11GB seem a bit small to me for something as large as BF3, especially with all the high-res textures already included for PC (unlike consoles)?

Maybe it's just me... though it would have been a larger download.

For the map pack and the pre-order weapons, are they, or the weapons at least, automatically dl'd with the game?

I don't see a separate dl link for the weapon pack etc.
Are they just detected/unlocked in-game for pre-orders?
