Best place to attach temp sensor on HDD

I am running a raid, so corsair link can't detect HDD temps.
What's the best area on a hard drive to attach the temp. sensor?

Feel for the hottest spot on the PCB after it has been running for a while.
Self monitoring temps wont be comparable with those temps from the internal sensor, fyi.

ya i know they wont, i just want to set a threshold for my fans to kick in and start going full blast if the drive(s) get hot.

I have been known to wedge them in between the PCB and the chassis of the HDD, tiny little bit of thermal past (silicon based, non-conductive).
