Best software for backup to external HDD

I want to get an external HDD to back up my data. I need it to be automatic since I'll forget to do it. I herad the software that comes w/ WesternDigital's external HDD is good?
Any suggestions?

Retrospect is good. It also comes with Maxtor drives, or at least the one I had dealings with (the one with the button on it; associate it with a backup profile instead of the Dantz application and it's automatic).
