Best way to test motherboard?

I just got a new motherboard and processor but unfortunately my NZXT Tempest Case does not arrive till tomorrow or Wednesday.

I want to hook up the motherboard and test it real fast and maybe install windows.

What is the best way to do this?

Should I put a pice of cardboard under it (my worktable is metal), rubber washers?

a fan blowing on it?

or should i just not be so damn impatient and wait for the case?
 
Just get it off the metal, put it on top of the plastic static bag that it came in. Don't set your open 2 liter of Pepsi next to it.
