BFG 7800GTX OC getting high temps and 3dmark 05 problem ... please help

so i'm trying to run 3dmark 05 (free edition) ... it goes thruough 2 of the tests and when it opens up the third one it just says a problem occured and the program shuts down.

Also my idle temps are 59C and it was 76C after those 2 tests.

What is going on here

I have a "regular" 7800GTX, well, kinda....stock my core was at 450 and mem at 1250, but with the stock cooler(single slot) im at 495 core and 1310 memory. My idle temps are about 39/40C, and my max load is about 54C. So i would tend to think 2 things may be happenening to you. First is that you have a shitty core and it wasnt meant to go past 420, or hopefully the core isnt making good contact with the heatsink, and if i had to guess, id say its the core not making good contact because of how high your temps are, they are rediculious to say the least. I pull it apart, re-apply AS5 and see what happens. Good luck.

in the free version after the test with the leviathon and the air baloon it stops....well atleast it does for mine

also try cleaning your cooler
