Both are excellent "World Class" PSU's, but the new BFG EX-1200 breaks new ground & is simply, at this time in a class by itself!how is "BFG EX-1200 Power Supply" doing? compare with HX1000w i'm looking to build another PC

Review 1: TweakTown Editor's Choice Must Have!
Review 2: Guru3D Recommended!
http://forums.extremeoverclocking.com/showthread.php?p=1348374#post1348374By using Frequency Conversion technology, the EX power supply can actually emulate virtually any size power supply and therefore be at least 80% efficient, even with loads as low as 10% of the unit's maximum capability. EX power supplies have the lowest minimum load requirements and the best +5VSB efficiency on the market.
http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr1200wexpsu.aspxI have tested a lot of power supplies in my time and if I had to pick one to own, this would be it. Yes, it is that good.
http://www.tweaktown.com/reviews/1796/9/bfg_ex_1200_watt_modular_power_supply/index.htmlIt is rare that truly new technology revolutionizes the PSU scene, but that is what is happening here! The switching frequency actually changes based on the load requirements providing very stable load regulation, very low ripple and noise & 80%+ Efficiency from 10% load (120W) to 100% load (1200W)!So let's sum things up. We have a PSU which could have been called the incredible Hulk. We think it's very efficient, it runs really silent even when stressed. It has a nice dark style and color. The cables are modular, sleeved and lengthy (50 CM). Despite being a 1200 Watt power supply it has a regular ATX PSU size. During our tests we monitored several voltage rails really closely, which remained absolutely stable.

This revolutionary PSU fits in a standard ATX case & has modular connectors. You could use it in a low powered system with integrated graphics or in a i7 4GHz+ with 2X 4870 2GB X2, 2X GTX295's or 3X GTX285's!
It was NEVER true before, but now it is, ONE SIZE FITS ALL!

Truly as it can efficiently power almost everything from a mATX starter system up to & including Tri & Quad CF & SLI!The pricing of the BFG EX-1200W with a MSRP of "only" $250 really throws a monkey wrench in to the pricing of all 1200W rated "known good" PSU's!
Here is the current market:
Even going "down" to the Enermax Revolution85 with a combined max of +12V@87, which is certainly puts it in the "1200W class" is still $41 more & that is after a $15 "savings" & a $20 MIR And the BFG is still at MSRP with no discounts!SILVERSTONE ST1200 1200W [Modular]

But this new BFG EX-1200W, even if it is a derated 1000W, at only $250, just kills everyone except probably the "die-hard members" of the PC P&C TC club.
A phase shift has a occurred, our paradigm has been altered & a new world awaits.......
What do we recommend now?
$250: BFG EX-1200W (modular)
$200: Corsair HX1000W (modular)
$115: Corsair TX850W
$95: PC P&C 750W
$75: Corsair HX520W (modular)
$50: BFG LS-450W
We just need 2 or 3 more modulars to fill in the gaps!
Just Something to think about.

You should be able to get them directly from BFG: http://www.bfgtech.com/bfgr1200wexpsu.aspxthanks everybody, does anybody know where to get the BFG 1200w instead of newegg.com?

I also posted this on EOCF as this PSU truly changes the 1KW+ landscape!

I checked the prices at newegg, Provantange & run a general Google search, then post the best of what I find. Prices can change by the minute, so the PSU Guide clearly states:I got brand-new Enermax Rev85+ 1050w for $250, so could others, so your price comparison is really doesn't mean anything. However, if you could find rev85+ 1250w, then the price delta would be huge lol
Posted at least 3 or 4 different places.Prices are posted at time of update, always search for lowest price, shipping & tax before ordering!
PSU: Power Supply Guide for Today's & Tomorrow's Computers
The BFG EX-1200 was priced at newegg@$250, the Enermax 1050W is still priced at newegg@291!well, this ain't no extremeoverclocking forum, alright? their rules don't apply here, so my point stands: rev85+ 1050w can be had for the same, if not lesser price. If you find rev85+ 1250w, that'd be a different ball game but your price comparison is invalid otherwise.

He does have a point though. The Enermax is available elsewhere for cheaper, but the EX-1200 is currently only available through Newegg so it isn't cheaper anywhere else. I think all this quibbling about prices is a bit silly though.Using your logic all price comparisons would be useless, as "it is always cheaper somewhere else"!
Never mind the fact that we are talking about the only 1KW+ PSU that will be be 80%+ Efficient at 120W, too!Never mind the fact that we're talking about a 1200W vs. a 1050W.
Newegg was the first ones to get the EX-1200 and they've already sold out.
I have more coming, but I won't get them until the end of April.

Is there some way to backorder this PSU so I'm not checking Newegg every 10 minutes?
I signed up for Newegg to auto-notify but I heard that they're usually a little late sending out those emails, and I wouldn't be surprised if it sold out damn quick after it came back in stock.
Well, there's good news and bad news. The bad news is that the factory shipped way late (like by a week). The good news is to make up for that they're shipping in a lot more units so it's highly unlikely they'll run out in a couple days like they did last time.
