Bloodlines - Help, I'm Stuck In the *&^%$%$ Tutorial!!!

I can't sneak past the dude. Damn!!! I am all crouched up, see, and I can either go to the left of the car and then over it, but the dude sees me, or I can go to the right of the boxen into the light, where the fucker sees me. I can't fight him, so I'm doing this over. and over. and over. Is there a third way I just don't see? Can I throw something? Can I just skip the damn tutorial?
