after 48 hours of folding fine both of my 9600's are down again, this time replacing the fahCore_11 file with the older one has no effect as it downloads the new core:rolleyes:

why does it do this? they need to fix this

Try setting the OC back to stock or a much lower setting. This is something you can do now to see if that is your problem.

To much heat is a common reason for EUE.

FWIW, I had to keep reducing the overclock on my 9600GT until I hit stock speeds before my EUE's stopped on the new core. :(

Agree that heat is common reason for EUE

I'm using eVGA Precision Tool to do my OCs. For some reason was not starting (seems to have fixed itself) and because it didn't start, fan wasn't going to 100% to keep temps down. I was getting EUE after EUE because of this. I've been stable for a week (after checking the logs).

I use RivaTuner to set the fan and reverted back to the 177.92s hoping it was driver related.
Doesn't seem to be heat in my case. 58C shown by RivaTuner.
I dropped the shaders to 1620 and hope that cures it.

I almost forgot. For 9600GT's, I heard it is common for the automatic fan to be broken. Mine stays at 45% speed no matter what until I use Rivatuner to force it higher. This could cause the card to overheat under load, especially if overclocked, and EUE.

i'm not overclocking and fan speed is 60% they are running very cool, it's not my setup

What are your ambient and GPU core temps on your setup? Seems like anything over 65C on my GPU core causes EUE's. This happens when my ambient room temp gets significantly over 30C and it's hard to control the GPU temp at that point.

core temps are around 50C full load

I don't get it guys. I maxed all of my cards out one step below crashing, I've upgraded to every core chage, and I NEVER gotten an EUE. I'm glad I don't have your problems.

FWIW, I just checked my log file for the past 5 days and no EUEs here. Running core 11 on a 8800GT w/ driver 178.24.

my box can no longer fold, 2X 9600GSO completely worthless

how could i fix this?

Have you tried running the ATITool's "Scan for Artifact" test ??
If so, do you see artifacts (yellow shapes, lines, pixels) on screen when the test is running ??

If I overclock the cards enough so that the test gives me visible errors onscreen, then the GPU client will throw EUE errors at some point.
That the way I test if my cards are stable to fold.
I'm running on various 9800 cards (GTX's,GTX+'s,GX2's) but all my 15 GPU clients have both passed the test and been rock stable folding.

Luck ......... :D

I am not overclocking my cards and the are at 60% fan about 50C full load

I upgraded video drivers to 178.24 to see if they work

Woah  brother AMD_Gamer.

I'm not even close to being an expert, but I run a PNY 8800GT, a eVGA 8800GS and a eVGA 9600GSO. All the GPU's have the shaders OC'ed (GT = 1809, GS = 1788, GSO = 1806) and the fan manually set to 80% on all the cards. I can honestly say I've never had any EUEing problems with the GPU2 clients. I'm not rubbing it in and I'm seriously knocking on wood. I might scacrifice a chicken or two to the computer Gods in thanks, just in case that EUE troll is stalking me (me paranoid, nah....)

Just for laughs check your cards and see if by some miraculous chance they may be OC'ed. Please post your final cure.I know for a fact with the help of our more knowledgeable members you will find a cure. It scares the "living shite" out of me when I read problems with the GPU2 client and a nVIDIA GPU card.

I've never had GPU2 problems, just Windoze SMP problems.

GOOD LUCK :D

EDIT: I just set up a P5N-E SLI board, but it's only got a AC'ed E6600 CPU in it ATM (stock 2.4 Ghz, my other 2x boxen are Q6600's and WC'ed). I've got a single eVGA 9600GSO in it also (dual slot). It's been EUE free for a couple of days. Maybe you need to check your mobo with just one card. Maybe it's a mobo or PSU prob  (who knows, maybe it's a biorhythm problem ) The reason for the purchase of my first multi PCIe slot mobo is I'm hoping to get a 9800GX2. I'll have a PNY 8800GT left over to install in the eVGA 9600GSO boxen. ;)

Folding and WCGing for the CURE

I feel your pain. I have a Dell laptop with a 8600M GT, it folded fine for about 2 months then started to get EUE all the time. Changed drivers, cores, etc. It will no longer fold at all. Games run fine, everything but folding runs fine. I don't fold with it anymore.

My HP has a similar card, a 8600M GS 512mb one and it's used for surfing now. :(

i get the eue exceeded error every once in a while.. i basicly just default my cards with rivatuner.. start the gpu2 client.. then put the overclock back on it.. are you running vista by any chance, amd_gamer?

hmm weird.. though id usually blame xp 64bit since its not that great of an OS.. makes vista look leaps and bounds better then it really is.. (and no im not a vista hater.. i just think it was a piss poorly made OS with lots of stolen open source coding)

I agree in the begining WinXP x64 was a major PITA. The thing is lately I haven't had any problems at all with with it. (besides no 64 bit flash for IE yet, or if there is I haven't found it :()

ATM I GPU2 with WinXP x64 and a P5N-E SLI mobo. It has a E6600 air cooled CPU with a eVGA 9600GSO dual slot GPU card. If and when I get a 9800GX2 to upgrade a PNY 8800GT I have in a Q6600 boxen. I'd like to build another 24/7 DC'ing boxen using a eVGA 9600GSO, the left over PNY 8800GT, a P5N-E SLI mobo and a larger PSU. The biggest PSU I have ATM is a 600w and I'm using it to drive my Q6600, PNY 8800GT, MCP350 water pump and two D12SH-12 speed controlled rad fans.

Code 72 may be a issue with your memory. Try down clocking your system memory a bit (strap it a different way, increase your voltage and/or timmings). Hope I've helped. Have you considered sending those back and purchasing cards that dont seem to have issues with the new core?

Looks like things have improved for you.
What was the resolution that is now bringing your PPD back up?

resolution? wtf are you talking about

anyways i got it back up and running, it will be good for 48-72 hours then it will go down again,

the errors come in waves i scrolled up on the F@Hmon logged and it had 3 errors in a row, one of them was at 98% but after that grouping it has not had a problem for like 10 or so WU's

Sorry, Just thought you had fixed it by the way your updates were looking.
Didn't mean to make you mental.

I'm sure didn't mean it personal. Idle computer/power useage rage has him.

I feel your problems bro. I built a spare boxen just for folding. Clean install of XP x64. I get through 1 or 2 WU's and then I get EUE error with no overclocking. I have to uninstall, reboot and then reinstall the client to get it working. Only a 2.5k boxen, but 2.5k is 2.5k!!!!
