i have a lightly used brother MFC-9970 cdw that after a few minutes of not being touched, used, or accessed just stop responding. the print server shows it as offline and if you browse to it with a web browser it is not accessible. however, you can ping it all day long, that works. if you use the printer to scan to the network, the scan goes through just fine and now it shows up online on the print server and you can browse to it. wait a few minutes, rinse and repeat.
no idea what is going on and why. it is as if its going to sleep, responding to ping, but not responding to anything else on the network. extremely obnoxious.
