My work just bought 6 new HP laptops. they came with Vista. we need XP. i have tired a few times now to install XP on these systems and i keep getting the same blue screen. I dont even get to the point where i chose the install. its during the driver load that it locks up.

stop 0x0000007E (0x00000005, 0xF748E0BF, 0xF78DA208, 078D9F08)

pci.sys address F748D0BF base at F7487000, Datestamp 3b7d855c

the model i am working with is 6510b.

at first i thought it was because vista was partially installed so i completed the OEM install and then booted off the XP cd. it starts loading everything and the BSODs a few minutes later.

Does anyone have any suggestions? are these just not compatible with XP?

Are the laptops using sata drives? If they are check your bios settings for a compatibility mode for SATA.

Or if you have a floppy drive load the drivers for the hard drive before windows loads the drivers by pressing F6 when the cd prompts you.
