Would love some help with building a machine for work. It's going be used for everything from Office Documents, programming, web browsing , and I want to be able to game as well. . I'm talking about the occasional game of WoW in a 25man raid environment which can be "somewhat" taxing.

Basically I want a best bang for your buck Quad-core 4gb+ machine with a decent video card. Going to be running on 1440x900 rez.

Thanks,

If you don't mind buying from 3 vendors than, this route would be the most ideal. But, I'm going to throw in something from just NewEgg alone just to give you another option if you were to stick with 1 vendor.

Post pics if you can!

The only gripe I have with what you bought is the hard drive: It's a somewhat slow drive. The WD6400AAKS is only $6 more at amazon.com but is significantly faster and hard significantly more storage. So in other words, that WD 500GB HDD is a poor buy IMO. Any chance of you being to change the order?

Nope, but it's cheap enough I can just sell it to a co-worker at cost and get the HD you mentioned. Thanks for the heads up.

I've been needing a new system for a couple of years now, this thread finally pushed me over the edge. I'm limping along trying to run Arcview GIS and Steam games and High res video on this 6 year old Pentium 4 system. I've upgraded it to a 3.4ghz and done some other things, but it just isn't cutting it anymore.

Thanks to the advice in this thread I put an order in to Newegg last night. I already have a 1.5Tb 7,200rpm Seagate in this system which I will be removing to run in this new one.

I ordered the following, I hope I did okay:

So, at first glance, I was very confused, since I thought I read this earlier...

So I ordered. Here's what I went with. Thank you to everyone who helped.
...

... then I realized ampdude wasn't the OP. :p

Welcome to the forums ampdude, but please make your own thread, to help avoid confusion. ;)

Read? now why would I do a thing like that?!? :p

Or read post authors :p

Hence the "first glance"... I was trying to find a nice way ask to the new guy not to threadjack while giving him a reason not to, without making either of us feel so bad. /shrug
