Jeez, I was waiting for the e8500 for a while and just bought yesterday an e8400. I knew this would happen, LOL.
 
Wait, so your pay that much more for nothiing? The e8400 is $219 @ 3ghz and the e8500 is 289 @ 3.16

That 9.5 multi is the key... that means a LOT to some enthusiasts. I was waiting for this proc myself up until a week ago when I finally got smart and just got an E8400. 4.1GHz is plenty. Now 10x multi? I'd have paid $289 in a heartbeat.
 
Hmm. I cant really see spending the extra on an E8500. Its my understanding that the E8400 hits its own limitations before you hit the limitations of most motherboards maximum FSB. I suppose if you were doing phase change or something this could help a little.
 
Nice that theyre here but its not worth it. 0.5x more multiplier right? Weak.
