Hi all, I was wondering if I will be able to run CoD4 with the following specs at 1680 x 1050 flawlessly? (like a constant 60-70+ FPS locked)

Q6600 2.4 ghz
3 gig 800mhz ram
8800GT 512MB stock

Thanks.

Should be perfectly fine. I was running at 2x AF only with my X1950, looks perfectly fine at that res.

My friend has the same system and a 22" HP and it looks great and is flawless @ 1680 x 1050. Though it depends on AA and whether you jack it up in Nvidia CP.

no, I wouldn't say 60-70 locked, but it would look great and run well.

You will get dips when the textures fill up the card. This seems to happen in big battles.

My e8400 and 8800GTS 512 seem to hold a very nice framerate in COD4 so the quad and the 8800GT should be very similar.

Extremely playable, but a locked 60-70.... I wouldn't go that far.

I'll be running vista home premium 32 bit. I'm just afraid to overclock so I was just wondering if it will be ok at stock.

I have a Q6600 with a 8800GT playing 1680 x 1050. That resolution seems to be good for the 8800GT. If you turn up AA and Aniso it will bring it lower. I don't think I am getting 60-70fps in Windows Vista 32 bit and I have the O/C version running at 650mhz on ther gpu. But, it still plays pretty good and smooth throughout the game. You should run about 40-50fps at that setting. But, its still good and comfortable in speed and it looks good to. If you want to hit 60fps, you need to go down to 1280 x 1024.

Should run nice and smooth with no AA.....my 8yr old son's rig is an AMD 5000+ overclocked a bit to 3ghz, with 2gb ram and an 8800GT, at at 1440x900 with everything else maxed and 2xAA, it runs quite well. So at 1680x1050 with no AA it should be comparable.

i play it fine (60+ FPS) maxed in-game settings on rig in sig @ 1680x1050. you should have no issues.

i play at 16x10 too with everything maxed and my card is clocked to 730core and 1040mem. with 20 people on my screen all firing with nades going off and smoke i get down to mid 20's.

its just too much texture for it to really keep up during these scenes. but mostly its 60+

Yes, yes you can. I run it at 1900x1200 and it gets around 45-60 fps so im sure you can get your desired fps.

Hell you could play some Crysis on that rig. You should be good to go with that setup. If you really want to kick it up a notch you could dish out $50.00 more or so, and get the GTS 512.

A majority of the time it will be at that rate. In crowded fights with lots of textures, it will drop, but overall still very playable. My specs are almost the same as yours.

Ok, running COD4 now with this system:

E6400 slight OC
2GB DDR2-800
EVGA 7900GTO

I throw it on a 24inch dell and it cannot handle 1920 with anything turned on, 1600 works with limited lighting effects and AA, at 30fps

What video card would folks recommend if I go to:

E6400 slightly better OC
4GB DDR2-800

(I've got the memory lying around and can manage a better OC) in order to run smoothly at 50fps minimum at 1920 (or can't it be done?) I cannot sli on my current mb and I'm not inclined to upgrade that right now.

The 9xxx series sounds interesting as this is also a htpc, but i'm not clear if these pure video changes are a real upgrade over the 8xxx series or not, so that's not a primary issue. Thanks for the advice...

You will get those locked frames on some levels but not on others, with the machine in my sig i have vsync on and it doesn't dip below that maxed out. Same res. Just noticed how many people need to reply to say yes, is it really necessary?
