Can the iphone 4s be jailbroken ?

I plan to buy the wimpy iphone 4s for my wife. I like to know if it can be jailbroken currently before I buy.

Also, she is on a t-mobile plan so the 4s would only get EDGE speed which is fine for her. My other question is should I buy the unlock iphone 4s or should I buy the AT&T 4s version and unlock it myself. Can the AT&T iphone 4s be unlocked manually yet? Is it better to buy the unlocked version at Apple store or should I buy it at AT&T store without a contract and unlock it myself.

I currently have a Galaxy Note and I really like the phone. I cannot use any phone with a smaller screen now.

4S cannot yet be JB. One is in the works, but is for 5.0, new phone might have 5.0.1.

JB does not equal unlock. Once JB, the phone has to be unlocked. The 4S has a currently non-unlockable baseband, so no unlocking possible. The full price ATT phone should come unlocked, as many users are reporting.

Safest bet is to buy the unlocked version.

EDGE speeds really suck though, that'd be a deal killer for me.
