So I went on an ordering spree today.

-Picked up a biostar a780l3g and phenom II black 560 for 110
-from the egg I ordered a 300gb raptor and 8gb of ripsaw ram for 250ish.

Already have a seasonic psu and lian li case, running a BD optical.

So question: what gpu should I run?

I play a little wow, cs:s, and l4d2

you left out the most important piece of information regarding your setup for a new videocard recommendation. What size monitor are you running, and what resolution will you be gaming on. Also just for good measure what games and features do you want to take advantage of. E.G. Folding and BC2 etc..

running a 40inch samsung 1920X1080. I like the $100~$150 range. I'd have to crack my case, I think the seasonic is a 550

The 460s are only $160 after MIR, same as the HD6850. Personally I'd say take the 6850 over the 460. Apart from being faster on average, it's also a lot more efficient.

For WoW your cpu would hold back even a fast card as many benches show fast Intel cpu's really giving gpu's room to breathe.

I really appreciate the help guys. I am not has [H] as I used to be :D. So choices...

Should I take the mobo and cpu back? You would cringe at my current rig. BFG mobo with a athalon 3K 64bit 939 cpu and a BFG 7800gt. WTF is AA again? :p

7800gt not so bad and some people are just spoiled rotten imho.

And you get can get a used 9800gt for $50 off craigslist if you want to save a buck depending on were you live of cores or 2x9800gt for $100 or a 460gtx for $100 .im not much for ati my self .i don't like their drivers\ati tray tools.

And who needs Antialiasing .AA is for people that can't push their res any higher seeing as more res douse the same thing as AA. ;)

I'm not a fan of Tom's, but they have the best display of what I'm talking about. Here you can see AMD's best losing to Intels current low range.

is this true, when considering typical overclocking headroom? i know very little about the 6850 so i'm intrigued. if you look at the one review i quickly found from googling (Anandtech), it shows a GTX 470 outperforming their OC'd 6850. it's fairly safe to say that most 460's OC to stock 470 levels. not an apples-to-apples comparison, and a little gray because i'm considering overclocking which is never guaranteed, but i'm curious about this.
