Hi all.

I've been upgrading some components in my cheap-ass $20 Thermaltake V3 case lately. Additional drives, a longer video card, and some fan replacements. I feel it's time to move up to a case with more interior room that doesn't also cost hundreds of dollars. It's also going to be a good excuse to finally do something with cable management.

I'm using air-cooling, with a CM Hyper 212 EVO for the CPU.

Details of what I want to move to the new case:

AMD PII X4 955BE
Asus Sabertooth 990FX motherboard
XFX Radeon 5850 (to be replaced shortly with a Radeon 6970)
BD drive
DVD burner
5.25" hot swap mobile rack
(3) 3.5" hard drives
2.5" SSD
Non-modular 750W PS

I've been considering the following on Amazon. Even though Amazon may not be the cheapest source for these, I have a $30 credit and a Prime membership that gets me free 2-day shipping.

Here are my current contenders:

Nzxt Technologies USB 3.0 Tempest 410 Steel Mid Tower Airflow Case ($60) http://www.amazon.com/Technologies-Tempest-Steel-Tower-Airflow/dp/B005MMW4DM/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3DOPVPFLGJ61E&coliid=I14PC04XDC6VS4

Enermax Ostrog GT ATX Mid Tower Computer Case ($75) http://www.amazon.com/Enermax-Computer-Acrylic-See-Thru-ECA3280A-BL/dp/B00BKX760S/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_S_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3DOPVPFLGJ61E&coliid=I25JOOTCZNBCEY

Cooler Master HAF 912 - Mid Tower Computer Case ($60) http://www.amazon.com/Cooler-Master-HAF-912-Computer/dp/B00BCXF6O4/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3DOPVPFLGJ61E&coliid=I11PFBWHT6V0U2

NZXT Crafted Series ATX Full Tower Steel Chassis - Phantom Black ($100) http://www.amazon.com/Crafted-Series-Tower-Steel-Chassis/dp/B003WE9WQY/ref=wl_it_dp_o_pC_nS_nC?ie=UTF8&colid=3DOPVPFLGJ61E&coliid=I1ZCX3ZQX1YJSC

Any feedback from owners of these cases?

Corsair 300R

IMHO - the Tempest and Ostrog are ugly, the HAF 912 is decent (but the 200R and 300R are better), and the Phantom.....ehhhh, I wouldn't pay $100 for a Phantom.

You might want to wait a few weeks to see if the H230 gets released; should be soon, but since it was just unveiled over the weekend, I haven't seen any details on date. Price is said to be $70. I'd take the H230 over either of the Corsair cases (and even moreso over any of the ones you listed).

Would the Dark Rock Pro 2 cooler fit in this case? It looks like it has nice airflow (the two side panels are side by side which I like, I'm trying to tame my 7950 for maximum overclockage :p).

Is the stock fan with which it comes any good?

Thanks!

I fit a TRUE with no problems.
Judging by this review, the DRP2 is 166mm tall. The TRUE is 160.5mm tall.

The TRUE fits, but I don't recall there being a lot of room between the top of it and the side panel. That being said, I do think that another 5.5mm (your cooler) will fit in there OK. Anandtech measured 170mm HSF clearance, so you should be OK.

300R is a very nice case, when I bought one I just ended up taking it back and keeping my R3 (which is now gone as well). :D I would have gotten another 300R but the Core 3000 was on sale and cheaper so I bought it instead.

Stock fans are good, decent quality, not a lot of noise but good airflow. I have a few minor gripes (front dust filter is not removable, front panel is not really removable with optical drives installed) but it's a very nice case.

It looks like I might go with this. TD has the 300R (windowed version) on sale for $50AR with free shipping:

Any other recommendations for a wide, roomy mid-tower or full-tower case with good air-cooling potential for less than $100?
