Updated hardware requirements for CCIE lab exam have pretty much changed across the board as of Jan 1. The new routers are going to be running 12.4 T line with enterprise services. What this means as far as hardware requirements is that the 2500 series routers are dead except for backbone and remote access and the 2600 (non XM) routers must be booted from TFTP if you want to be running the correct images.

Note also that the R&S exam (My track) will no longer test ISDN, ATM or PPPoE.

The growing obsolesce of "It Still Does Nothing" rears its ugly head.

If you are planning a lab or in the process of studying for the exam, take note... Will be old news for most but not all of you

Why are they getting rid of ATM & PPPoE? I thought those were still (fairly) widely used? Anyone care to enlighten?

ATM moved to the voice track... PPPoE is pretty much covered elsewhere.
