CDRW Drive Does Not Work!

Okay for some reason my cd burner doesn't work. I can open and close it, but it doesn't detect cd's when I put them in the drive. When I look at the device properties it says the device is working properly....how do I get this drive to detect cds and such? After putting the cd in the drive, I still can't get into the cd, so what do I do?

Easiest thing to start with is delete it in the hardware manager, and reboot the machine.

yeah it worked fine before but now it doesnt seem to work...would the drive reinstall itself after i delete it form the hardware manager?

yeah... if not choose "refresh" for hardware changes in device manager
