I’m currently using Zalman’s CNPS7700-cu in my SG-01E (AMD64 4000+ on a eVGA NF44 nForce4), and was wondering if I should try the new CPNS8000? They are almost same hight.... but does it cool better? Also the Silverstone NT6 looks nice... but it is somewhat bigger than the CNPS8000.

Once you have a Zalman performance cooler you won't see much improvement -1-2 degrees at most.I'd skip it...

with the sg01-e, get the nt06 cooler if you have a psu with a 120mm fan on the bottom. the nt06 rises right up to the psu, so the psu fan sucks all the heat out without need (or space) for another fan.

I went from a 7000cu to an 8000 and saw close to a 10 degree drop. I don't think you'll get as drastic of a drop from the 7700 but I still think it'd be better than 1-2 degrees.

But I think the 7700 would be quieter due to the larger fan. I have the fan on my 8000 cranked all the way up (I did that on the 7000, too) and it's very audible.
Not X1800XT-stock-cooler loud, but still noticeable.

will the 8000 work on a a8n32-sli, i'm wondering if it's going to cut off any ram slots or hit any capacitors.

CNPS 8000 in terms of acoustics is a bloody failure compared to the CNPS 7700.

I'd just ride it out and wait for the CNPS 8700 to come - heatpiped 7700 which is likely to be better than that 8000 by a longshot.

Read the review of the CNPS 8000 and weep.

The CNPS7000 is available for US$20, and can probably one-up its newest sibling in terms of both noise and performance.

^ agreed. The reviews on the 8000 were not too favorable. IIRC it actually performs worse than the stock opty x2 cooler.
