heres a little comparison i did out of bordom

base: 17" 1280x1024 lcd - 9,498 pixels per square inch
19" 1280x1024 lcd - 7,564 pixels per square inch = 20.4% larger pixels than the 17"
20" 1600x1200 lcd - 10,000 pixels per square inch = 5.2% smaller pixels than the 17"
17" 1280x 1024 crt (16.1" viewable) - 10,055 pixels per square inch = 5.6% smaller pixels than the 17"

its really easy to do, you know the diagonal of the monitor so just take that and make a 3 4 5 triangle than use the pythag theorem to find the measure of both legs. multiply the length of the legs to find the area of the monitor. take the number of pixels and divide it by the area of the monitor and you will find how many pixels there are per square inch.

enjoy
