Computer trouble- out of ideas

Hey guys need some help. Decided to build a new computer with the Core i7 in mind so I got a asus motherboard 1366
630W power supply
4 gb ram 2x sticks
Ati 4850 sapphire
500 gb hd hatachi
Samsung DVD rw
The problem is that after different attempts to get the thing to post it continues to spin the fans and then come to a stop...the power supply ran everything fine on 230v but started smoking after 5 seconds... The motherboard isn't DOA and neither is the power supply... Anyone else with a core i7 please help

uhhhhhhh... isn't it suppose to be at 110?

Yeah well it has no effect on 115 and everything ran on 230 but the smoke was a definiate red flag
