So can I mix and match ide and sata harddrives?

I have 2 ide cables (total of 4 drives (2 master, 2 slaves))

I have 2 sata cables (total of 2 drives? or is this 4 drives also just like the ide setup?)

Am I capable of having a total of 6 harddrives or 8 harddrives?

But if I can mix and match, which drive will be the bootdrive for windows by default?

I'm slightly confused  I'm all over the place. Sorry :(

1 drive per sata cable and unless you either have 3 ide channels or have no cd drives you cant have 4 ide harddrives

So technically my possible setup can be (if i use up everything):

ide1 (1 master hdd, 1 slave hdd)
ide2 (1 burner, 1 slave hdd)
sata1 (1 hdd)
sata2 (1 hdd)

I can have a total of 6 devices running at once??

Again, which hhd would be the default windows bootdrive?

sure why not...as long as your psu can push that many drives

Doesn't matter; just change the boot order in BIOS and you'll be fine
But off the top of my head it should still be IDE Primary Master, if that's how your controller does IDE/SATA emulation
