Corsair 520HX - enough power for 4830/4850 CF?

No, it would run fine on a 520 as long as you're not going to extreme oc or run some some hdd farm.

so i guess i will be fine using 520HX with 4830CF?
i know i will be better off with 1 4870 than 4830CF but i dont have a 4870... and too much trouble to sell and buy @.@

3.0GHz Q6600 and only 1 HDD only btw

...sell and buy. Really. 4830 CF will be /trash/ in titles that don't have excellent CF support. It's a pain, sure, but it's definitely worth it.

Yes. I do agree with silent-circuit though. It would be more cost-effective to sell what you've got and purchase a single 4870 or GTX260.

well atm i guess i will stick with 1 4830 as i do have one
and not really in rush for a second or better card ( hope the newer games aint that hungry lol )
but thanks for the help because i was tempted to get a second card cuz it not too expensive... but guess i dont really need it and swapping PSU is really a pain in the ass @@

btw what is the most powerful card can a 520HX handle?
with Q6600 @ 3.0 and only 1 HDD

The HX520 could handle a system with a GTX295 or 4870X2 as well, providing it doesn't have a ton of HDs or anything. It would just be getting a little close to the edge. A 4870X2 system would be about 75% load on the PSU, and a GTX295 would be about 70%.

I have similar specs (same powersupply, cpu, 1hd) and was also wondering what gpu setup would be best for my system. I have a P45 board allowing crossfire but was unsure whether 2x4850 or 2x4870 setups were feasible on the HX520. Zero82z pointed out that the HX520 could handle a GTX295 or 4870x2 as well though at the very edge of its specs but unsure whether the 4870x2 versus 2 4870 in crossfire drew similar power. I ask because I do not plan to upgrade my computer for awhile except for maybe the gpu. Thus if I do decide to upgrade my gpu (I have a very reliable 8800gt with no reason to upgrade with the current games) I plan to purchase a single 4850 or 4870 and perhaps a 2nd of two in the future as opposed to a single 4870x2 or gtx295 (if I could, I would rather spread the cost of upgrading plus the distribution of heat).

The 4870X2 and two 4870s consume similar amounts of power. I am considering going to a Crossfire setup with a second 4870 with the rig in my sig, and I have no doubts that my HX520 will be able to cope with the load.

Thank you very much for the extremely helpful and quick response.
