I want to buy a xbox but the new ones are all out of my price range. I'm wondering if it's safe to buy one off craigslist. Does the warranty transfer and everything?

Also, I don't have my "own" HDTV, but I DO have a 22inch computer monitor. If I hook it up to that, what resolution will it be able to run? 1680x1050? Thanks.

just to update cause all the posts were deleted, I picked up a xbox 360 from circuit city liquidation after Merlin704 sent me a VGA cable free of charge, and everything works great.
 
I just sold an xBox360, Two Wireless controllers, and 4 Games for $150.....
