I've had this copy of 2K pro since it was released - Yes, I buy MS products before the first service pack, sometimes - and I'm awaiting some new parts (for the first time in some time - an Abit NF7, AXP-M 2400+, and 512MB Geil) which is certainly going to make me reinstall Windows.

I fear not a clean install. (I have a second hard drive for the sake of data storage - You can take out my 60gb, smash it with a bat, and after I shoot you, I'm not going to be angry over lost data.)

I do hate how bloody long it takes to install all the MS-related garbage that'd be solved if the install CD was just current.

Is there a way I can compile those service packs and security updates into a new Windows install CD? Imagine installing Win2K SP4 with DirectX9 and Windows Media already on - That'll take care of half the rebooting you'd do during a clean install. Do you suppose if I contacted Microsoft, do you suppose they'd send me an updated copy, if I sent them my old CD? :p

Maybe I'm chasing a pipe dream here, but I figure there has got to be a way.
