I'm starting to think that certain performance issues either have more to do with Microsofts decision to move the audio subsystem out of Kernel mode or some compatibility problem between nForce 4 and Audigy 4 cards. I removed the Creative beta drivers, rebooted and installed the Kx Drivers. Wouldn't ya know it, the popping and skipping was still there but not as bad as the Creative drivers. I was able to create an environment running apps that generate a lot of disk activity where the sound would skip, slow down or just turn to pure shit. This doesn't happen in XP at all. The Creative drivers failed every time and could not produce a smooth and constant sound stream. The Kx drivers (3538m) fared a bit better but aren't immune to the issue either.

This really sucks. Between the sound and power management issues (no issue if you run full power) I want to go back to XP and do with out the improved multitasking and countless other goodies Vista provides.

Anyone else here running Vista 32bit with an Audigy 4 and Kx drivers?
