Ok guys, Im selling off some stuff to fund my new computer, and am expecting about $300 to come in fairly soon. so I plan on picking up parts for my new rig that im gonna build. I already have it mostly planned out, and will be buying new(newegg and ZZF), and used where I can. Since I will be buying used, this is not 100% what im getting, but its a general idea.

Either A64 3000+ or Opty 144
DFI ultra-D(sli mod in the future?)
1gb of cas2 ram(Corsair XMS maybe)
EVGA(most likely) 7900GT
Either OCZ MOdstream 420 or Enermax Liberty 500watt
WD Caviar 200gb sata

I think thats all of it, My budget is around 700-800. Suggestions on what to change? As I said none of it is final, as Im probably buying used.

Get the Gskill pc3200 2.5-3-3-6 ram, 2gb for $140.99 at the egg, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231047 or the pc5000 for $157, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16820231021

I don't see any point in buying a gig of pricey corsair when you can get 2gb for the same price or cheaper. If you get 2 sticks of 512, then when you need more ram, you are either going to have to try to sell your two sticks of 512, or deal with possible issues with 4 sticks of ram. I myself don't really see SLI as a viable solution for upgradeability. I see SLI as something for the person who is going to buy two of the latest and greatest cards at the same time. If you cannot afford two video cards, by the time the 7900gt comes down in price, the next gen video card will be out and will probably smoke your two 7900gt cards. I'm very happy with my epox nf4 ultra board, and its $94, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16813123236. The opty 144 has the extra cache on it, but when the 3000+ is $113 http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16819103537 , you must ask if it's really worth the extra $57. I have the powerstream 420 and it suits me just fine, also I'm really happy with my seagate hard drive, 200gb is cheaper than the WD, http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.asp?Item=N82E16822148113

From what I have read/seen you will benefit from having more ram, than having less ram with slightly lower timings, you might get better benchmarks but will you really notice 2 frames per second? Good luck.

Thanks, I was thinking of it but I havent been on newegg in a while to check prices becuase im on the POS computer in my sig, and i get script errors all over newegg, so browsing is extremely slow.

Ill check out the motherboard, but I may still go with a DFI just becuase they are good for overclocking.

If the 3000s are going for $113, then Ill jsut pick one up new. I will probably go with the modstream, and may pick up the seagate, depends on what i can find.
