So I have my old Viewsonic E90fb and just purchased a tempered glass desk. Do you guys think that the CRT will be too heavy for the desktop?

I've given a quick glance around various websites for LCD monitors, but they all run at a native resolution of 1280x1024. I run at 1600x1200 with my CRT and would hate to take a hit to resolution, I can't really afford to buy a LCD that runs at 1600x1200.

Yeah, too many unknowns here.

- How thick is the glass

- what kind of glass is used

- How big is the surface in total

- Where are the support legs

etc.

Basically it's impossible to give you an answer without being a math guru and glass engineer.

Check the weight capacity on the desk. It should say. And then see how much the monitor weighs. Not too hard.

I used to work with a guy that had 2 19" crt's on one of those glass desks from Ikea. He was able to put each monitor directly over the supporting legs though. Not sure if you have that option.

my glass desk had tempered glass surfaces with 75lbs weight tolerance. i had my crt on it no problem. probably could have had two.

It should not break if it's tempered glass.

I wouldn't recommend sitting on your desk though. ;)
