Look what just arrived at my house today, an aquatube with 1/2" compression fittings.

not only did i snag it for $25 on ebay, but it came with these kickass fittings. score!

Are those compression fittings for 1/2" OD or 1/2" ID?

to my suprise, they are 1/2" ID. and the thread is G1/4, so they are quite restrictive.

Those look like Thermaltake fittings. You can do a lot better in the fitting department. Is it an Aquatube or a Fass-O-Matic?

I'd bet money they are Thermaltake fittings... look EXACTLY like the ones that came with the temperature probe I bought when I built my 1/2" loop.

Only problem I have with them is that the inner walls of those fittings are so thick they take your flow rate down to 3/8" after you figure the restriction and back pressure into the loop.

No comments on large bore... but if you're going large bore, why put in cheap compression fittings that will drop you down into the medium-flow range?

Looks like an Aquatube.

The Fass-o-matic has the ridges running down the entire length, and there's only eight.

Have the holes with the compression fittings been re-bored?

If not you've still got the restriction caused by that.
